Waste Separation System

Do your bit for the environment – Kitchen Waste Separation

Do your bit for the environment and invest in a waste separation system for your kitchen.

The kitchen generates more rubbish than any other area of the house – and the majority of this waste can be recycled.

But the problem is how to divide up items into separate recycling zones. Nobilia waste separation systems offer the perfect solution.

Make kitchen recycling easy

Nobilia waste separation systems are built-in, easy-to-open sliding drawers and cabinets that allow you to immediately dispose of items into their correct place.

For instance, you could have a storage unit with a lid that takes all food waste that can be composed. In a separate zone, you can store tins or glass. Simply slide open the drawer or unit and pop the waste item in – so it’s instantly out of your way.

A waste separation system helps you keep your kitchen clean and organised and, at the same time, allows you to conveniently do your bit for the environment.

The beauty of built-in waste bins

A big advantage of a built-in waste separation system is that it frees up floor space. Rather than having a row of unsightly bins, you can keep all your rubbish hidden from view.

Large-sized bins can be housed in their own slide-out cabinet, while medium and small containers can be fitted inside drawers and cabinets. As well as housing waste out of sight, you’ll also keep germs and bacteria at bay as rubbish is separated so it can’t cross-contaminate.

You can choose the size of your waste separation system based on your household needs. A big family may require a large bin and multiple waste containers. A couple may require just a two or three-tier system with a container for dry items and another for wet waste such as leftover food.

Design your kitchen with a work efficient flow in mind

Because our waste separation systems are built-in to your kitchen design, you can ensure they’re situated in the most convenient place. Your kitchen plan is likely to revolve around food preparation, cooking and cleaning zones. Hence, you can position the waste unit in the appropriate zone for that activity.

You’ll also want to be able to empty the bins and containers easily and transfer them to your outside bins. Once you have a system in place, you’ll find managing your recycling becomes much more straightforward.

Have you considered home composting?

A good way to cut down on the amount of waste that goes into your wheelie bins is to have a composter in the garden. Vegetable cuttings, cut flowers, newspapers, eggshells, teabags and coffee grounds can be stored in a built-in waste container in the kitchen and then transported outside to your composter.

Home composting is a great way to make use of your kitchen waste instead of buying bags of compost from the garden centre.

And if you’re worried about keeping the home composting unit clean, you can use biodegradable bin liners. When the bin liner is full, simply take it out and place the whole thing in the composter as the biodegradable liner will break down during the rotting process.
